This event will officially kick off the celebration of World Teachers' Day 2021 (WED). The Director-General of UNESCO will be joined by the heads of the organizing partners - UNICEF, the International Labor Organization (ILO) and Education International (EI) - in recognizing the work of teachers around the world , take stock of achievements and raise awareness of the challenges facing the profession as education systems recover from the COVID-19 crisis and seek to “build back better”.
Following the official opening of World Teachers' Day, the public will learn about the progress made globally towards achieving the teacher-related target of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Target 4.C) and the way ahead. Browse. The public will then be invited to participate in a roundtable on the challenges of the post-COVID 19 recovery for teachers and teaching in different contexts. This discussion will be guided by three imminent speakers, selected for their forward-looking and multidisciplinary vision, addressing the issues of teaching, social dialogue and the well-being of teachers.
In addition, from 5 to 8 October 2021, UNESCO, in collaboration with the International Labor Organization (ILO), UNICEF, Education International and many other partners, will organize a series of events open online to share knowledge and the latest research on key issues affecting the teaching profession and to exchange best practices from around the world in supporting teachers and learning for a successful recovery.
